Maria Franco Gavonel

I'm an economist working on migration, sustainability, and human capital. In the past, I have worked on policy research and design, and currently I am focused on academic research.

I hold a PhD in International Development from the University of Oxford, and my doctoral thesis examines the drivers of climate-related youth migration and its impact on children and adolescents’ human capital accumulation in developing countries. I also hold an MSc in Development Economics and Policy from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor degree in Economics from the Universidad del Pacifico (Lima, Peru).

I am currently working as a Lecturer in Global Social Policy and International Development at the University of York.
